“In the academic career prep morning session, I learned that you can work in academic institutions outside of traditional tenure-track professorships and technician positions! As someone who loves campus life, teaching, and outreach but has serious doubts about faculty positions, this was REALLY eye-opening and intriguing. At the afternoon session on imposter syndrome, I was really struck by the efficacy of the action plan exercise we did at the end. I have a LOT of anxiety around coding, but after working through the action plan (a much more objective experience than listening to the voices in my head), I legitimately feel much better about my coding abilities. Great first day of conference! With all of the uncertainty of our current time, I wasn't looking forward to attending a career planning workshop, but I feel like I have already gotten a LOT out if it and my fears of feeling overwhelmed are being assuaged. Thank you all so much! ”
