7 Eleven Past Present Future
The Past • 7 Eleven, Inc was founded in 1927 in Dallas. • The name originated in 1946 because the store was open from 7 am to 11 pm.
Human Resources of the Past: Hiring • In the late 1920’s when 7 Eleven opened, employees would have to go to the store and apply in person. • Applications were filled out by hand.
Hiring in the Past (continued) • After the applications were filled they would have to be separated (by hand) into the jobs that were being applied for (cashier, manager or any executive positions). • Managers would have to struggle to sometimes read applications with ugly handwriting.
Hiring in the Past (the end) • After countless hours going through applications (looking for proper education and experience) and interviews the right person for the job would be found.

Hiring in the Present • Potential 7 Eleven employees can now apply on line at www. 7 eleven. com or in person. • Data about each person can be entered into a database of applicants so when the manger wants a person that has certain traits, all he/she has to do is search in the database. • The People that fit those characteristics are interviewed an employee is chosen.
Hiring in the Present (the end) • A manager can now go through fewer applications and interviews. Hiring employees no longer requires so much sweat.

Human Resources in the Future: Hiring • Hiring will probably not change much in the future since managers will still need to get a feel of what the future employee is like in person. • Applications online will continue but so will in person applications. • Future employees will need to be more qualified to work in a convenience store, so a general technology knowledge test will be administered.
Hiring in the Future (cont. ) • The tests and applications will be done on line, even if applying in person, at a central location, so that managers can go to a central online site to search for employees. • All the manager will have to do is go online and type in several characteristics of the type of employee he/she needs, wait a few seconds and a list of employees that fit this description will come up. Managers will then choose which ones are interview worthy.
Hiring in the Future (the end) • Once the manager chooses several application, the applicants can be call for interviews. The interview will be done either in person or by video conferencing. • Hiring employees will still be an easy task for mangers.
