The Purpose of This Policy The purpose of this policy is to prepare Hotel team members on how to respond to the drowning or near-drowning of a guest, visitor or employee. 600. Emergency Response Guide, 624 Drowning Emergency Action Plan B. If You Discover a Drowning Victim If you discover a drowning victim or someone at risk of drowning, immediately take the following steps: 1. Remove the victim from the water. You may do so by entering the water, using a rescue hook or by using a life saver attached to a rope. Remove the victim using the fastest and safest means possible. 2. Call the operator to notify paramedics, police and Hotel CPR-trained staff. If someone else is available to make the call, stay with the victim. Do not stop until professional emergency medical responders arrive. 4. After other Hotel team members arrive, determine who is available with the most experience at CPR to help. 5. Send someone to the street level to await and direct emergency authorities. 6. Clear the area for emergency medical responders. 7.
