Matching • Create a definition for your person, place, or thing – Include two pieces of contextual information (what makes your term significant / important) Ex: Archaeologists – – Definition: An individual who studies past people and cultures through material remains (also known as artifacts) – Contextual Information – • 1. Much of the historical information that we rely on is based on the work of archaeologists. • 2. Based on new discoveries and new interpretations archaeologists are constantly redefining our understanding of historical events

(*you can not speak until you think you have found your match) • Sit with your match and together – Add to your definition/ significance of your term EX: Archeologists – Anthropologists Both study the origins and development of people and their societies

Match Interviews • As a pair discuss and record how your two terms are related to one another. • On a separate piece of paper Interview the individual whom you are matched with (possible questions might include) – – – What is your favorite book or genre? What really annoys you? What really makes you happy? What is a skill that you are proud of? What are 2 of your hobbies? • After the interviews are complete, each pair will introduce their match to the entire class presenting the information gathered during the interviews. Each individual will also verbally give their definition for their term.
