About the Teachers About Me - I was born and raised in Rutherford County. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Appalachian State University with a bachelors degree in Elementary Education. Previously, I taught first grade for four years at a local school. However, I am so excited to be a part of the Thomas Jefferson Classical Grammar family and be in Kindergarten for the second year! This is such a vital time your child’s life, and I aim to do my best at helping them grow in all areas of their life. My husband’s name is Miles, and we have two children, South (5) and Carolina (3). I enjoy spending time with my family, friends, being outdoors, reading, history, and travelling. About Ms. Jordan – I was born in Nampa, Idaho and moved to Rutherford County when I was 2 weeks old. My father is a pastor, so we traveled a lot when I was young which gave me the opportunity to see some amazing places. I am a mother to 4 awesome kids (2 boys and 2 girls). I have been a substitute teacher and bus driver for Thomas Jefferson for 5 years. I got the opportunity to start teaching with Mrs. Ensley last year. I am so excited to start this year off with her again, and I look forward to meeting all our new students!

Homework We realize that this is Kindergarten. However, it is important that the children reinforce things they have learned in the classroom. It is also important that they develop good habits at a young age that will follow them through their academic life. With that said, we will send home simple practice pages to be completed. Homework MUST be completed NEATLY in pencil. Along with homework, we would like you to read with your child daily. Please fill out the reading log each night and return it in the folder. (This will come later in the school year. )
