Course Description NUR 100 “…course introduces the student to the professional nursing role from historical, social, legal-ethical, political, economic, theoretical, and cultural perspectives. Students will be introduced to the concept of holistic nursing as defined by the American Holistic Nurses Association as well as the nursing process, roles of the professional nurse, settings for the practice of nursing, and the application of Maslow’s hierarchy to the determination of priority client needs. Coursework will include an overview of nursing as a profession, the economics and regulatory issues in nursing and healthcare. ” (Nursing syllabus: NUR 100 Introduction to Nursing Practice)

Classroom Expectations: 1. Students are expected to show professionalism and courtesy in their behavior toward the teaching staff…and fellow students. 2. Expected to be on task and engaged in the dynamics of the classroom. 3. Communication processes include: in class discussions, use of your Ameritech College email. This includes communication about assignments, course questions, and any questions to the instructor. 4. Students are expected to check email at least once a week- students are solely responsible for any missed communication. 5. Personal Appearance: Students are required to wear a uniform and follow dress standards while attending college.
