VLE and SOCIAL MEDIA What is a VLE? VLE stands for virtual learning environment

VLE and SOCIAL MEDIA What is a VLE? VLE stands for virtual learning environment which is a form of website used by many educational establishments to allow access to work and educational programs used by the school from home allowing students to complete work an upload it without having to go into their place of learning. This is especially helpful for students who are unable to come to school due to health issues but still wish to learn , teachers are then able to set work for them to complete. Along with this they are able to set deadlines for the work to be complete, use plagiarism checkers to see if the work has been copy and pasted, teachers are also able to mark and grade the work allowing them to give feedback to students for them to act upon or correct in their current work. The reason VLE are becoming more popular with places of learning is because todays students have more and more access to computers allowing them to work more digitally which connects them to their place of learning 24/7. Example of VLE Moodle is a good example of a VLE due to its range of uses and features along with the popularity of the program. Moodle contains many feature which are useful to places of education. Moodle has many features such as file sharing to participants on the course for example attaching files to forum post. Grading is also possible in Moodle by using a gradebook feature, for example in assignments and quizzes marks are automatically added to the gradebook. The age group that twitter is aimed at is between teenagers and young adults but older people do use it. Instagram was released October 6 th 2010 and was advertised as a share platform for friend's to share images and photos to friends and people around the world. It also has features such as liking photos and profiles. It has been aimed towards the age group of teenagers to adults. Snapchat was released September of 2011, upon release snapchat was intended as a image and messaging platform between friends and people across the world but unlike most messaging platforms snapchat messages only stay around for a few minutes and then disappear. Snapchat is mainly aimed towards the age group of teenagers but may also be used buy older generations. What is social media? Social media was first developed to connect people all over the world as before these websites and asps it was difficult and time consuming to contact people form other parts of the world as you would either have to send letters top each other or email would take time to compose and wait for a reply and sharing images was very limited as the image size was very restricting, this is were social medias come in as it allowed people to share ideas, career interests and other forms of expression. But something like this does not come without its flaws as in early stages these e social medias sites were very prone to hacking and exploitation of others such as personal info which would allow people to find your location which could lead to worse situations, it is not until recently that security has been made extra secure so events like this cannot happen.
