My name is Sarah Thornton – I am your child’s new class teacher for the next academic year v I have been working at Mayfield for five years now and I have experience with a range of abilities and learning needs. I thrive in challenging pupils in order for them to progress holistically v We are located in Orange class at the Heathfield site at Mayfield School with a class of ten pupil’s in total v One of the teaching assistants will be your child’s key worker v We are all very excited to meet our new pupil’s very soon! v Below are pictures of my team who will be assisting within your child’s class group Olivia Somers Safina Hussain Sasha Alleyne Aysa Begum

* Mayfield School have created a brand new curriculum which is very relevant to each of our children. This academic year will be the first time we are using it. There are four strands that make up the curriculum which we will be focusing on, these are: v v Functional Skills (Maths, Science, IT) Physical Development & Wellbeing English &Communication Social & Emotional Development & Wellbeing These will be taught in a foundation and developmental stage style with work tray learning and some small group and whole class activities too! As communication between school and home is vitally important, next academic year there will be various ways to contact each other including phoning, e-mailing or WEDUC which is a new platform we will be introducing shortly.
