TOASTMASTER OF THE DAY ROLE OUTLINE Good evening, Mr. President, fellow toastmasters and our most welcomed guest(s). My name is ____and I am honored to serve as your Toastmaster-of the-Day. My responsibility as your host is to direct a smooth and timely transition through our agenda. First, I would like to verify all members on the agenda are present.

Word of the Day A word master gives us a word to increase our vocabulary when speaking or when writing those great speeches. The word introduced this evening should be used as often as possible during the meeting. When the word is used we are to do what fellow toastmasters? Yes, give that person a grand applause. Joke Master Although our meetings are structured and professional, we also like to have fun. A Joke master helps get us started. Our Joke Master for this evening is . Please welcome him.

Table Topics Table topics provide those members not assigned a meeting role an opportunity to speak during the meeting. Table topics also help members learn to think and speak on their feet. This helps them perfect their ex-stem-poraneous speaking skills. Each table topic speaker gets a subject from our Table Topic Master. They have 1 -2 minutes to give an impromptu speech on that subject. Our timekeeper keeps track of the time.

Explanation of the Lights… After 1 minute of speaking the green light will come on. After 1. 5 min. the yellow light will come on and after 2 min. the red light will come on. You have 30 sec. to wrap up your speech. You must speak for a minimum of 1 minute however, to qualify.

Ah Counter Report (General Evaluator Role) Next on our agenda is the Ah Counter’s report. When speaking, people often use crutch words or fillers such as: “ah”, “um”, “you know”, “well”, or they repeat a word or phrase. The Ah Counter helps us become aware these words and sounds. ________will give us the Ah Counters report. Please welcome ___________!

Grammarian’s Report (General Evaluator Role) One of the purposes of TM is to help members improve their grammar and use of words as they are speaking. The Grammarian report makes note of this. _________ will give the Grammarian’s report. Please welcome _________.

Piggy Infractions… When there are infractions on our Ah Counter and Grammarian reports, we have to feed the piggy. Those who names were called please feed the Piggy 5 cents for each infraction to a maximum of 25 cents.
