THE PARISHES OF ST MARGARET AND ST MARK

THE PARISHES OF ST MARGARET AND ST MARK DUNHAM MASSEY Trinity 11 Sunday 23 rd August 2020 Newsletter and Weekly Prayer Sheet Notes for the Parish Pump Are you like us, every so often you feel it necessary to have a good tidy up in the spare room as Carolyn did last week on a wet afternoon. Most of our older residents will know the name of Freddie Pearce who lived in Dunham for over 70 years and was our Church Warden for more years than I care to remember. I had the priviledge to carry him over the road to his final resting place and to assist his nephew Tommy Cross to clear his cottage of his few effects after his funeral. I found, written in beautiful Copperplate writing the following, and I would like to share it with you. Entitled ’The Lord will provide’. The words were written over a hundred years ago and can be seen overleaf. Dear old Freddie was our village tractor mechanic and many young lads, me included learned some basic tricks for old Fergy or Fordson tractors. He lived to over 92 years of age and was much respected around the area. They don’t makem like this anymore. Bothy Blessings, Alan & Carolyn Readings The Collect Matthew 16, 13 -20. Peter declares Jesus the Messiah. O God, you declare your almighty power most chiefly in showing mercy and pity: mercifully grant to us such a measure of your grace, that we, running the way of your commandments, may receive your gracious promises, and be made partakers of your heavenly treasure; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.
