Explanation of this studies/work This is a work för our second year students at

Explanation of this studies/work This is a work för our second year students at the Natural Science programme at upper secondary school (Sundsvalls Gymansium, Västermalm). This is done during a few weeks and an activity that will break the schedule. The students will work in groups of about 4 -5 persons.

Project ” Enviromental studies” How is the well-being of our earth? What might be wrong? How can we create an environment that we can pass on to children and grandchildren with good conscience? What do scientists say? What do you think? You will, together with some classmates, form groups and work with these issues for a period of time. You choose a topic of your own within theme. Be sure to define the subject! The work will then culminate in a poster that you will introduce to your classmates and some guests.

Purpose and objectives of the studies/project The overall aim is to : Improve your scientific- and report writing. Goals: • Practice identifying and define problems • Search for relevant scientific articles (with some guidance) • To get acquainted to scientific text and practice text writig processes • To strive towards your own element of " research" and formulate your own questions • To read scientific texts and articles and come up with constructive criticism

Students tasks • Choose a defined topic within theme " Environment and sustainable development

Students tasks • Choose a defined topic within theme " Environment and sustainable development “, together in groups • Find relevant and interesting articles within your particular subject area as follows: Each group seeks out and works with a) a scientific article/report/ dissertation and b) a more easy-going scientific article from a magazine NOTE! One of these texts should be in English! • Read, process, summarize and reflect on the content of these articles and find/create the appropriate illustrations and photos to your work • Create a poster • Present the poster in front of a smaller group, in a so-called seminar • Take part in any/some of the other group presentation-s and oppose (Provide comments and suggestions for improvement) on their work • Writing a short evaluation of the work
