What is TVET? View TAFE NSW – Options for students studying at high school TAFE-delivered vocational education and training (TVET) courses allow school students to gain workplace skills and experience to get a head-start on their career. TVET allows you to: Øgain practical, work-related skills to enhance your future employment opportunities Øcomplete units that count towards your Higher School Certificate (HSC) Østart or complete a nationally-recognised TAFE NSW qualification while still at school. When you finish your TVET course you'll receive a nationally-accredited Certificate qualification or a Statement of Attainment. Most TVET courses articulate into further TAFE or university studies.

Does TVET contribute towards my Higher School Certificate (HSC) or ATAR? • All TVET courses count towards your HSC. Please consider the Board of Studies eligibility requirements for the attainment of an HSC. . • TVET Industry Curriculum Framework (ICF) courses may contribute to your Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR). You will need to study 4 units of an ICF course, over two years or one year, and sit for an optional Higher School Certificate exam. All ICF courses include mandatory work placement. Only one TVET course can contribute towards your ATAR.

Where are TVET courses delivered? • TVET courses are delivered at TAFE NSW campuses, depending on which course you wish to study and where you are located. Not all courses are available at all campuses. You attend your TVET course as part of your regular pattern of study. Can I apply for credit towards further TAFE studies? • If you successfully undertake TVET at school and continue your studies at TAFE you may apply for advanced standing in any course containing the units of competency you have successfully completed during TVET studies. You will not be required to repeat any subjects that you have successfully completed as part of your TVET course.
