Shared. Work Ohio Program What is Shared. Work Ohio? Shared. Work Ohio is a voluntary layoff aversion program, which allows workers to remain employed and employers to retain trained staff during times of reduced business activity. Under a Shared. Work Ohio plan, the participating employer reduces affected employees’ hours between 10 and 50 percent. The participating employees work the reduced hours each week, and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) provides eligible individuals Shared. Work compensation (a portion of their weekly unemployment benefits proportionate to the percentage reduction of work). Video 2

The Scope of Each Shared. Work Ohio Plan � A plan must apply to one “affected unit” � Employers may have more than one Shared. Work Ohio plan � Employees are all reduced by the same percentage of the normal weekly hours of work, between 10 and 50 percent � Plans must include a minimum of two (2) employees � Benefits are available under the plan for up to 52 weeks (1 year) � Plans may be modified or terminated by the employer
Participating Employee Information �Employees do not search for work while under a Shared. Work Ohio plan �Instead, employees need to be available for their normal weekly hours of work �Outside employment could affect Shared. Work employees’ eligibility for benefits �Employer paid, approved leave (holiday, sick, vacation pay) counts toward the Shared. Work Ohio hours in a week

Time & Accuracy Key Factors �Shared. Work Ohio plan first week Sunday to Saturday weekly schedule Review accuracy of SSN and normal hours Employees will file their initial claim application � New claim or additional application �Weekly (or biweekly) claim filing after week has ended Employer submits and then employee certifies
