Music video 1 – Humble – Kendrick Lamar • Its an analysis of his hip hop peers. He takes shots at their income and brags about sleeping with their baby mamas. He accuses rappers of faking it and relying too much on drug references. • And of course, he had some thoughts on women's appearance which cause a stir. The song humble is nothing of the sort. Not surprisingly he's this generation's MC emeritus. • Standing in a holy beam of radiance, dressed in papal garb — Kendrick continues to show why God and religion will be the main themes of his next project. • Kendrick shows off both sides of the coin, the good and the bad, as he goes from the pew to the trap. Surrounded by blue faces and bodacious bodies, he is probably counting the loot while his accountant is sipping D’usse.

Music video 2 - MACKLEMORE FEAT SKYLAR GREY - GLORIOUS • The music video is all about how short life is so enjoy it, as well as having faith in afterlife and doing good in this world. The video features his grandma (for her 100 th birthday) which gives the audience a connection to the video and a positive vibe towards it. • Its not a typical character to have in a hip hop/rap video, a grandma, as usually it’s the younger generation but the quirky video makes it work due to the bond shown between him and her. Many low angle shots were used shown how superior they’re meant to be in the video and feeling on top of the world. The car is a key feature in the video which is a common representation of a hip hop genre video. It’s a nice car showing they have money and integrity as well as freedom. • The 2 people link well to the lyrics, she has had a long and seemingly enjoyable life and he is half way through his, yet they are enjoying every moment they have on this planet.

Music video 3 - Coldplay - Adventure Of A Lifetime • SONG MEANING: "Adventure of a Lifetime" by Coldplay is a fun, groovy dance song about feeling "alive again" because of a woman. The song is disco inspired and meant to not only be about good feelings but also to give them. • It goes against a common genre convention (indie) because of the higher budget it would have needed compared to a low budget, basic setting indie video. The apes still player traditional indie instruments like drums and guitars but it is done in a more fun, interesting way which the message of the song is trying to portray. • It does not include live sound or the musicians themselves and is instead pre recorded again emphasing the difference this video has to its genre. Many camera shots are used to establish the incredible setting and upbeat behaviour of the apes dancing to again put across how this song should make you feel. • Its an enjoyable song which lightens the mood and the music video does this by being different and almost like a short film of apes enjoying themselves.

Music video 4 – The scientist - coldplay • The Scientist is a very mellow song about trying to analyze a broken relationship. • The music video is famous for its reverse chronology (which required Chris Martin to learn the song backwards in order to make it look like he was singing forwards as he walked backwards…) • I actually find it rather hard to identify a specific target audience for coldplay as I know many people of all ages and gender that love their music due to them being so experimental in style. If I had to narrow it down I would have to say that their target audience is young adults (both male and female) due to songs like "Every teardrop is a waterfall" and "Princess of china" that would appeal to this audience. However despite this I feel as this song is a lot slower, calmer and older that its audience would be slightly older, 30's. The reason I mention the different target audience due to the people who liked the song during its release having aged since its release by about 10 years. However this is not to say that the song and video have not gained new fans, however Coldplay have been active for 20 years, and therefore are bound to have older fans. Furthermore I also believe that the video is aimed towards people who are interested in art and media, as the unusual way of filming the video would attract their attention.
