Regional RAMS Prevention Plans and your lists of Communities at Risk are important parts of your performance measures this biennium
DNR Performance Measures • Develop and implement Fire Prevention Plans that focus on reducing costly fires that affect life, resources and property. • Number of communities at-risk for wildfire receiving information about how to take personal responsibility for reducing their risk of wildfires.
Fire Prevention Plans • This is at least the third year we have used RAMS. Unless you plan a wholesale change to your regional fire prevention program, RAMS update should not require a major effort. • Bannon can provide updated fire history by compartment. • Updated RAMS plan for 2006 to Bannon by 12/31/2005.
Communities at Risk • Why are they important? – NASF committed the states to identifying communities as part of implementing National Fire Plan. – Performance measures for State Fire Assistance funding ($2. 5 million/year) are based on communities at risk.
Federal Performance Measures • Number of communities at risk: – listed. – with completed and current fire management plans or risk assessments. – with fire prevention programs in place and being implemented. – that initiate volunteer and community funded efforts to reduce hazardous fuels resulting in removal of community from the at-risk list.
Review your communities in RAMS • Add communities you are working with that aren’t listed. • Consider Deleting communities that are not at risk for wildfire
