Professional Development Purposeful Leadership Critical Connections Campus-Wide Communication • Offer opportunities, driven by community input, for networking, training, and professional development events • Coordinate the sharing of best practices of academic advising sustained by NACADA’s core competencies and recommended best-practices • Develop dynamic UAAC leadership to guide the Collaborative, including diverse representation from across campus • Provide ongoing assessments of UAAC relevant curricula, training, resources, and communication • Promote meaningful interactions of academic advisors • Cultivate an inclusive culture of academic advisors at CWU that embraces and promotes diversity • Engage multiple stakeholders in communication and collaboration of academic advising policies • Promote the scholarly practice and professionalism of academic advising at CWU through proactively connecting with faculty, staff, and students

Your Personal Great Advising Story • Take a minute to think of a time

Your Personal Great Advising Story • Take a minute to think of a time when either as an advisor or an advisee, you feel an advising appointment or relationship went really well. • In groups of 3, tell your partners about this appointment or relationship, and what the advisor did to make it such a positive experience. • As you tell your story, partners listen for and write down attributes they think your story suggests about your advising philosophy. This might include values, beliefs, strengths, approaches, or theoretical foundations.
