Indicators of a problem • 489 UASC at risk in the urban area of Thessaloniki since January 2018 • 252 children working in the streets of Thessaloniki since January 2018 • 6 suspected or potential children survivors of THB for the period 2015 -2017 (the number is not efficient) • Forced criminality, abductions, labor exploitation, sexual abuse and exploitation • Very few cases brought to court!

Positive impact • Applying interventions in the “first line” • Input as a background to raise advocacy points and a basis for the implementation of further projects (new initiatives) • Public awareness • Facilitation in the collaboration with authorities-not turning a blind eye; National Referral Mechanism, Prosecutor’s order on systematization of the mechanism for THB, Network for the Rights of Children on the Move • Sensitization with regard to protection procedures for children survivors of THB

Lessons learned from the experience • The establishment and operation of the National Referral Mechanism as the foundation for any respective intervention • Having protective structures available as an immediate protection response is mandatory when operating services for the identification of survivors • Continuous lobbying as equally important with awareness raising • Legal framework needs further contextualization for the effective support and protection of survivors (from recognition to protection) • Prevention activities are necessary
