SERMON 3 The Blessings of Marriage Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her, that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word. (Eph 5: 25 -26)

I. Affection • The love couples experience in marriage is unlike any other earthly relationship. • Five Love Languages 1. Words of Affirmation 2. Gifts Receiving/Giving 3. Acts of Service 4. Quality Time 5. Physical Touch

II. Friendship • Marriage is a place of deep friendship and companionship. • Doing things and spending time doing them together — work or recreation.

III. Service • In marriage, we learn how to serve. • From menial tasks to laboring in prayer for each other.

IV. Grace • In marriage there is a huge need to give and receive grace from each other. And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive your trespasses. (Mark 11: 25)

V. Growth • In marriage husband wife love each other unconditionally and provide an opportunity to encourage growth. What if God designed marriage to make us holy more than to make us happy? ~Gary Thomas, from Sacred Marriage
