Introduction Malawi has three major borders that most Customs activities take place namely; Songwe border in the North, Dedza border in the central and Mwanza border on the Sothern part of Malawi. Mwanza border is the busiest and records the highest number if imports mainly from South Africa. Next on the line is Songwe border which borders Tanzania and import from Dare salaam pass through here.

Poor coordination; local and internationally Corruption Technical knowledge – Most Customs officers have no expertise in ODS Transit goods not subjected to physical examination
