WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT THE LIFE OF A PLANT? Where do plants come from? What is the purpose of a flower? Why do some plants grow fruit?

A PLANT STARTS WITH A SEED… A seed may be small like a grain

A PLANT STARTS WITH A SEED… A seed may be small like a grain of sand, or as large as a coconut! Seeds come in many different colors and textures. Seeds contain food for a new plant. What are some seeds you eat?

SEED COAT The outside of a seed has a special covering called a seed

SEED COAT The outside of a seed has a special covering called a seed coat. Like a coat protects us, a seed coat keeps the seed safe and moist.

WHAT DOES A SEED NEED TO GROW? Water A plant needs to drink. Sunshine

WHAT DOES A SEED NEED TO GROW? Water A plant needs to drink. Sunshine A plant needs warmth and also needs sunlight to make its own food. Air A plant turns carbon dioxide into oxygen. Soil A plant needs nutrients from soil.
