Image Lighting Mise en scene Camera angles Explanation 1 Low key lighting Black background.

Image Lighting Mise en scene Camera angles Explanation 1 Low key lighting Black background. Dark clothing, with little detail shown. No props apparent Extreme close ups I had a look at this existing film poster, to allow me to explore with different camera angles that I have yet to explore for my own poster. 2 Low key lighting City setting. Armour Low angle shot worn, signifying power also edging on the idea of fight scenes being present. To support this weapons are also shown This is a good way of showing that the characters have power, by making them appear superior due to camera angles shown. 3 Low key lighting Setting of space. Again dark clothing is worn, so the audience’s attention is not drawn to this. There also props such as spaceships shown to suggest the genre of the film. I thought that this film poster was interesting to look at, as it incorporated both a long shot and close ups. This is something that I may choose to experiment with myself, to give indication to location and characters. Close up shots Long shot Research photo

Image Lighting Mise en scene Camera angles Explanation 4 Low key lighting Lit up sky in the background. Woman in white clothing, suggests innocence and purity. Man in iron suit, suggests masculinity and strength. Slight low angle shot/ mid shot used Again this film poster uses a range of different images, which are collated into one piece. I think this works well as within the first 30 seconds of viewing this poster, the viewer is constantly spotting new elements, that may have been hidden on the first glance. 5 High key lighting White background used. Props of a briefcase used, suggesting this film is based on business. Suit and smart clothing worn, again adding to this idea. Through the legs shot I decided to look at this film poster, as I favoured the idea of using a through the legs shot for my own piece of work. I thought this would work well within my piece as I could conceal the identity of the antagonist, by only revealing this body part. 6 High key lighting used Smart suit, suggesting Mid shot an element of professionalism. Weapons shown within this, implying there may be fight scenes included. Flame background suggests the genre is that of action. This film is again different compared to the others analysed. This is due to the background being used to show the climax within the film, being that of an explosion. This is a relatively straight forward editing technique to use, and again something that I could experiment with however using a different concept which would apply to my own film poster. What this shows… For me, this research was useful as I was able to

What this shows… For me, this research was useful as I was able to understand the conventions of a action film poster. From this I have taken information, such as low key lighting is predominantly used when creating a film poster. This will help me, as it will allow me to experiment with elements such as lighting and mise en scene within my own piece of work. By carrying out research beforehand, my work will hopefully gain a sense of professionalism, and therefore not stand out as being an amateur piece of work. Camera angles are also something to think about when creating my poster, by looking at this I will have a clear idea for the types of images I am wanting to obtain for my final piece. Merging a combination of two plus images together is not necessarily something that I would have though about, meaning this research has also expanded my imagination and enabled me to generate new ideas for my own film poster.
