Easter Traditions in Wales Easter is a Christian religious celebration. We celebrate Easter because Jesus died on the cross. Easter represents the beginning of new life – chicks, lambs blossom on the trees and Spring time. It’s time when families come together. At Easter children all over the country take part in Easter Egg Trails. They search for eggs from the clues that have been left. Children get chocolate Easter eggs to eat on Easter Sunday. We eat hot cross buns at Easter. The cross reminds us of the cross that Jesus died on.

Welsh Easter Traditions On Sul Y Blodau, people in Wales would decorate the graves of their family with flowers such as daffodils, rosemary and primroses. They would head off early in the morning and climb the nearest mountain and watch the sunrise in honour of the resurrection of Jesus. Wales has it’s very own Easter traditions that date back centuries. On Good Friday, Welsh children would use long reeds collected from the river to make figures of Jesus. They would attach these figures to a wooden cross and place them in a quiet field to rest peacefully.
