Dividing Fractions What does this mean? We use division when we want to see how many fit into something else. Example: If we have 12 4, we want to see how many groups of 4 can fit into 12. Does this sound fimilar?

Steps 1. Write your expression vertically 2. Look to the second number/fraction and find it’s reciprocal. 3. Rewrite the expression keeping the first fraction the same. Change the division sign to multiplication, and change the second fraction to it’s reciprocal. 4. Solve the multiplication expression.
What is a reciprocal? It is when you multiply two numbers together and get 1 as your answer.
