Destiny Training 11

Destiny Prayer kids: � Occasional kids’ prayer events must be held. � All children’s workers, kids intercessors and all interested should be invited to actively participate in the prayer events. � A clear prayer program must be made in time and leaders given ample time to prepare for the event. � The event may also involve fasting. The prayer venue must be free from distractions for the kids to concentrate. The major activities may include the following:

Prayer Program �A time of Praise and worship � Sharing on praise items from some of the intercession leaders and intercessors � A teaching on theme for the occasion � A Short Biblical study of prayer warriors from the Bible or other contemporary Christian examples. � A time of reflection, repentance and confession on behalf of the church, community or children’s ministry.

Prayer Program � Organizing members into intercession teams to cover specific prayer themes � Distributing prayer cards to small teams to pray for. � Conducting prayer walks in their community � Showing or sharing from prayer, intercession or community transformation films, videos, DVDs etc. � A whole host of other prayer activities can be carried out to facilitate a powerful prayer encounter for the children’s ministry.

Prayer Guide � At the end of such an event intercessors must be given a prayer program for the following month, quarter or whatever season they will determine till they meet again. � Prayer Guide: � Children need to be taught principles of effective prayer while they are still young. Regardless of their ages, kids need to be guided into a lifestyle of prayer.

Prayer Guide � Just like adults they need to be led into praying for their country, its leaders, the church and the propagation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ within their communities and the world at large. � It takes a lot of discipline and a whole range of prayer activities to put this dream into reality. � They should also be taught and helped to pray for their leaders as well as the nation’s leaders as advocated in 1 Timothy 2: 1 -4.

Prayer Guide � The Church must develop a National Children’s prayer Network. � All genuine relationships must be developed through prayer. � Events and gatherings that band together children’s ministry leaders must be organized in order to build a solid foundational base for this network

Prayer Guide � From these leaders must be helped so they can help children to be effective intercessors. � Effective prayer patterns must be developed for the children to be able to identify with the needs of people around them as well as develop a prayer pattern for the larger global family. � This means they must be able to pray for:

Pray for: � The Church: - their congregation, the cells, the children and other ministries as well as pray for its leaders, pastors and other church workers and missionaries. � Their Schools: - teachers, students, headmaster and all involved in the school community including S. D. As, office staff, grounds men etc. � City. Town or village: the Mayor, city/town council, C. E. Os, Managers of companies, Administrative chairpersons, village heads etc.

Pray for: � Provinces: Governors, Provincial Administrators, Senators, MPs, District Administrators etc. � Nation: - the Executive, the judicial and legislative branches � The World: - world leaders, countries, continents; children may be set in groups to pray for various aspects as outlined above. Major or Annual Prayer Rallies may be organized where children may come together to pray for their Nation, schools, communities and churches.

Prayer � They may be organized in their different ages and led through specific areas of prayer concern. � This helps children to know that they are indeed part of their communities and that they have a vital part to play in influencing people and events for God through participatory prayer and intercession.

Prayer Diary �A seasonal Prayer Diary must be organized and distributed to all praykids across the country. � This will culminate in the annual prayer congress for all children on a date to be set in October each year. � All prayer groups will send representatives for the occasion. � Community leaders should be invited to these prayer events or and even national leaders.

Praise Scriptures to Pray � Did you ever have the problem of wanting to pray to God, but not knowing what to pray? One of the best places to find words to use is the Bible. � It can be fun to sit down with your Bible and pray scriptures. � When you do that, you are praying God's own words back to Him. To do this, you simply take a phrase from a verse and pray it to God.

Praying Scripture � Here is an example of how to take a verse and turn it into a prayer. � Psalm 9: 1 -2 says: "I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonders. � I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High. "

Here is a praise prayer you might pray using some of those words: � Father in Heaven, I praise You, O Lord, with all my heart. I want to thank You for the wonders You have done in my life [name a few of the things He has done for you]. You make me glad, so I will sing praises to Your name because You are the Most High God. Amen (Then you might even sing a praise song to God!)

Prayer Examples � Now you try it. Look up one of these Scripture passages, and make your own prayer of praise to God! � Psalm 56: 3 -4 � Psalm 96 � Psalm 139: 14

Prayer Assignments � Think of and share a true story of how one child or person got a prayer burden which positively affected others, his/her community, a country or the world. � You can even think of biblical characters. Share the story within 5 to 10 minutes. � After telling the moving story ask questions that will help the kids identify with the intercessor so they can emulate him. Think of questions like.

Guiding Questions � Why did (Trust/Mary) have a burden to pray for his/her village, town, country, people? � How did his/her prayer affect the country, village, town or nation? � Have you ever prayed for someone or something and felt that your prayers where answered? Tell us about it. � Can we identify together things or situations that may call for prayer

Prayer Point: Ask for or organize the children to pray as teams for specific areas of need as identified in the above discussions. � Praying God's Words � Not all children are familiar with praying scriptures. Although it may sound simple, children may be afraid they aren't "doing it right. " You can stress there is no right or wrong way to pray the scriptures to God. The object is to take a passage of scripture and pray it to God as a praise.

Pray Scripture � Ask for volunteers to look up and read these references: Psalm 56: 3 -4, Psalm 139: 14, Psalm 96. � Prayer Point: As each child reads the scripture passage, have another child volunteer pray the scripture back to God as a praise. Or you could have the children all silently pray it back to God as a praise. The children may need to hear you model an example before they feel comfortable to try it on their own.
