All rotating equipment include OEM recommendations including flushing criteria. Whether commissioning, maintenance or flushing due to a failure, it is vital to remove foreign materials that contribute to damaging critical components including gears, pumps, bearings and valves. While Petrolink. USA always recommends bringing in experts to facilitate the execution of flushing activities we also recognize that many systems are smaller in size, risk and cost. There are times when reinstatement or additional work takes place after the system flush is completed and the experts have left the facility. In both cases, it is vital to prevent any foreign material that may have been introduced from reaching any of the system critical components and causing damage at start up. Petrolink. USA is now offering PLI-Screens, a double reinforced inspection media to verify cleanliness of systems prior to start up. PLI-Screens are made with a 3 -gasket, 100 Mesh (or OEM required media), and 40 Mesh screen bound together for durability. PLI-Screens include options of hole punched handles in both 2” and 5” for ease of installation, removal and storage. PLI-Screens have several advantages to field fabricated screens. Field fabricated screens are usually done with an individual hand cutting 100 mesh screen and gluing between two gaskets. These gaskets without the 40 mesh backing and time to cure have been known to bow out, tear or worse — completely blow out during operation. These screen failures send contamination built up on the screen as well as the screen materials into the system, which prologues the flush. With full-flow inspections, durability, availability in any flange size and rating, cost effectiveness over wye, basket or welded steel screens, the PLI-Screens are the screens that professional flushing companies rely on.
