How it works Remove the nucleus of an egg cell Get a somatic nucleus from the animal you want to clone Remove the nucleus and transplant this nucleus into the egg cell, or fuse the two cells together You are left with an egg cell which has a nucleus belonging to the animal you want to clone This egg is inserted into surrogate mother
