Dependence , Independence, Interdepenence 1 Dependence 3 Independence Interdependence 2 • One is dependent for 15 -18 years. • One is then independent for 1 -5 years. • One then moves to interdependence where they share their decision making with someone. • Some people skip independent stage. • At some point they will go back to it. (Some marriages survive this, others don’t. ) • They then move back to the interdependent stage.
