73 Ana Paula Couceiro Figueira 73 poster nº apcouceiro@fpce. uc. pt Metalinguistic awareness. Evaluation and intervention strategies: the THAM's THAM-1 (for children aged 4 -6 years) Consisting of seven tests subdivided into two groups: one of general metalinguistics (MLG); the other, more specific metalinguistics (MLE). Except for the Word Extension Assessment test, each item is coded based on the three levels 0, 1, 2. (Level 0: Preanalytical, Level 1: Relevant but insufficient analysis, Level 2: Pertinent and exhaustive / complete analysis). Each test or proof refers to linguistic questions (L): literal and metalinguistic responses (ML): argumentative answers Maximum possible quotes in different THAM-1 tests 1. G) Order of Words 18 2. G) Evaluation of the extension of Words 13 3. G) Lexical segmentation 16 4. G) Rhyme Proof 16 5. G) Substitution of words 20 1. E) Identification of Words, Letters and Numbers 18 2. E) Morphology and Function of Written Symbols 12 Total possible 113 points THAM-2 (for 9 -14 years) The THAM-2 consists of 6 tests: 1. Comprehension, 2. Synonymy, 3. Acceptability, 4. Ambiguity, 5. Grammatical Function and 6. Phonemic Segmentation (6. 1 Similarities and phonological differences in sets of minimal pairs; 6. 2. Syllabic Metric Division; phonemes repeated within a word; 6. 3. Repeating sounds (Identification of repeated phonemes within a word); 6. 4 Word formation As in THAM-1, a scale with three qualitative levels is adopted. Each test or test refers to Linguistic (L) and Metalinguistic (ML) Maximum possible results for L and ML in each THAM-2 test L ML 1. Comprehension 15 32 2. Synonymy 5 10 3. Acceptability 28 26 4. Ambiguity 7 14 5. Grammatical Function 6 24 6. Phonemic Segmentation 33 18 Total L 94 Total ML 124 Total THAM-2 (T L + T ML) 218 THAM-3 (for adults) The test consists of 3 tests in which 2, Comprehension and Figurative Language, are of meta-semantic nature, emphasizing, respectively, conventional uses and creative uses of language. The third test, Acceptability, is a meta-grammatical and metasemantic proof. Each test or test refers to Linguistic (L) and Metalinguistic (ML) 1) Comprehension It consists of 8 items in which each item consists of two sentences. It allows the evaluation of the understanding of the qualitative, temporal, morphological and spatio-temporal relations. The subject is asked to indicate whether the two sentences that make up each item express the same type of relationship or different relationships, and have to justify their response later. 2) Acceptability A text with 15 errors that must be identified and corrected. 3) Figurative language Composed by metaphors, in a strict sense, presented as individual phrases, advertising slogans and brief poetic texts, for a total of six items (two for each typology). Resultados máximos possíveis para L e ML em cada prova do THAM-3 Comprehension L = 4 Comprehension ML = 16 Acceptability L = 15 Acceptability ML = 30 Figurative Language L = 2 Figurative Language. ML = 12 Total L= 4 + 15 + 2 =21 Total ML= 16 + 30 + 12 =58 Total THAM-3 =21 + 58 =79 metalinguistic References • Figueira, A. P. C. & Pinto, A. (2018).
