Zoroastrian Poets (in Gujarati language) 1. Viraf Kapadia is a contemporary poet in Gujarati and a student of Western and Indian literature, whose poems are rooted in his belief in art for life's sake, more than art for art's sake. His work has appeared in leading Gujarati magazines and collections both in India and in the US. He is also engaged in recreating select American poems in Gujarati. His first collection of poems 'Aa Kavita Temne Mate' was published in 1998; a second book will be ready for publication soon. 2. 'Aa Kavita Temne Mate' is a book of poems that have not followed prevailing trends or literary fashions, but have meandered through wide vistas of fresh poetic endeavors. The reader of these poems invariably feels that the world is a silent traveling fair of love; and personal triumphs and defeats are but an ever climbing and ever sliding ferris wheel. 3. Bejanji Ferdonji Jhansiwala was an eyewitness to the Sepoy Mutiny of 1857. His autobiographical poem in Gujarati was published in 1959 by his grand-daughter Nergish Byramji as the poem “Bejan ni Bekhasi”.
