License Application and Renewal �First licence granted to zoo lasts 4 years �Subsequent licences

License Application and Renewal �First licence granted to zoo lasts 4 years �Subsequent licences last 6 years �Licences are granted to an individual but may be transferred with the approval of the local authority �Four inspection types: Licence, Periodical, Special, Informal

Licence Inspection �Usually involves one or more Secretary of State Inspectors �Zoo operator given

Licence Inspection �Usually involves one or more Secretary of State Inspectors �Zoo operator given at least 28 days notice �Inspector completes licence report and provides a copy to zoo within one month for comments �Local authority decides whether to grant licence and sends licence, with conditions, to the zoo
