Zero Trust What you should know about Zero
Zero Trust What you should know about Zero Trust. Safeguard yourself and the company by following a Zero Trust approach: Zero Trust is a network security approach based on the concept “never trust, always verify. ” When applied more broadly, employees can use it to inform almost every security decision. When it comes to emails, never click on links that ask you to make a payment, verify your credentials, or share sensitive information without first verifying the sender’s identity and why they need that information. When it comes to the web, always check the URL of any site that asks you to input login credentials and other sensitive information. Verify that the site you’re on is trusted, not a spoof site masquerading as the real thing. Never let anyone into a company facility or secured office area without first verifying that they have appropriate identification and a valid reason for being there. If you leave your desk for any reason, be sure to lock your screen before you walk away. When you’re working with sensitive material, at the office or in public, be sure to watch out for “shoulder surfers” – people who hover your shoulder, trying to see the information on your screen. Zero Trust is particularly effective against insider threats. Since insider attacks are often enabled by employees making careless mistakes, taking a Zero Trust approach to all interactions can significantly improve your company’s cybersecurity. © 2020 Mimecast.
