Zeal is Commanded! • Revelation 3: 14 -22 The Lord’s church at Laodicea - “Therefore be zealous and repent. ” • “Why am I not on fire for the Lord, as I was in the beginning? ” • Lack of Faith – Hebrews 3: 16 -19; 4: 1 -2 • Weak Faith due to Suffering, Bitterness, Apathy, Weariness, or Despair – The result will be the same! (devil wins!) 2

Zeal Alone Will Not Save You! • Faith Alone will not save you! James 2: 14, 17 -18 • Grace Alone will not save you! Titus 2: 1115 • Works Alone will not save you! • Baptism Alone will not save you! • God wants your Heart! Your Obedience! Your Zeal! Zeal is Not Wrong! 3

Zeal for Control Over Others But Paul recognized Zeal without Knowledge – 1 Corinthians 8: 1 -2; Galatians 4: 16 -18 “yes, they want to exclude you, that you may be zealous for them. ” “But it is good to be zealous in a good thing always. ” Titus 3: 9 -11, have you considered these passages? Regarding the Zeal of Some to establish themselves as the authority in a local church which results in division? 5

Zealous for the Wrong Things! Are you zealous to point out the errors of others? 3 John 9 -11 “Diotrephes, who loves to have the preeminence among them, ” • Colossians 2: 8, 18 -23 Zeal For Human Wisdom! People are led astray by the misdirected zeal of others. • 2 Peter 3: 15 -18 “Since you know this beforehand, Beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked; But Grow!” 6
