Du’aa: Invocation Ø Du’aa is defined as any invocation or a prayer addressed to Allah (swt). Ø Du’aa can change fate, while no action of ours ever can. Ø Du’aa is the essence of Ibadah or worship. Ø With Du’aa we cannot fail; and without it we cannot succeed. Ø In the proper scheme of things Du’aa should be the first and the last resort of the believer. Ø Du’aa is a conversation with Allah, our Creator, the All Knowing, the Almighty.

And your Lord says: "Call upon Me; I will answer your Prayer: Surah 40, Ayah 60 ﺍﻳ ﻭ ﺍﻱ ﻭ ﺍﻳ ﺍ ﺍﻭﻱ

Al-Saheefa al-Sajjadiya Ø Al-Saheefa al-Sajjadiya is a collection of supplications and whispered prayers Ø It was composed by Zainul Abideen, the greatgrandson of Prophet Muhammad. Ø The title "Al-Saheefa al-Sajjadiya" means "the book of Sajjad", Ø Sajjad being the epithet of Ali ibn Husain, the fourth Shi'a Imam.

Al-Saheefa al-Sajjadiya as considered Ø Al-Saheefa al-Sajjadiya has several titles, such as: l "Sister of the Quran", l "Gospel of Ahlul Bayt" and l "Psalms of the Muhammad dynasty", Ø In the form of supplication, Al-Saheefa expresses Islamic knowledge and thought and Ø It involves all aspects of individual social, economic, political and cultural life. Ø Al-Saheefa addresses Reason, human feelings, emotions and conscience

Al-Saheefa al-Sajjadiya Ø Imam Al-Sajjad composed the Saheefa al-Sajjadiya after the Battle of Karbala (680 AD). Ø Al- Sajjad used rich language for the supplications to reconstruct society and distribute Islamic knowledge. Ø Al-Saheefa al-Sajjadiya was protected from government agents by Al- Sajjad’s sons and companions Ø It was a sectarian and organizational booklet, which if the government agents discover it, it would nullify all Imam Sajjad's efforts.

Al-Saheefa al-Sajjadiya Salutations to Muhammad and his dynasty are repeated in most of its supplications, In several supplications Imam Sajjad explains what Imamate means, l who is allowed to be an imam (leader), and l what the conditions of Imamate are

ﺍ ﺍﺍ Zainul Abideen’s Supplication for his Well-Being

، ﻱ ـﺎ ، ﻱ ﺍ ، ﺃﻠ ﻯ ﺩ آ O God, bless Muhammad and his Family and Clothe me in Your Grace, And wrap me up in Your well-being,

، ﺃـﻱ ﺍ ، ﻱ ـﺎـ and fortify me by Your welfare, and confer on me Your kindness,

، ﺍ ، ﺃﻱ ﺍ and enrich me through Your security, And Enhance me by Your safety,

، ﻱ ﺍ and bestow upon me Your goodness, And spread out for me Your kindness,

. ﻻ ﻱ ﺍﻟ ﺍ ﺍﻵ ، ﻱ ﺍ and set aright Your well-being for me, and separate me not from Your healthiness in this world and the next!

، ﺃﻠ ﻯ ﺩ آ O God, bless Muhammad and his Household

، ﺍﻱ ﺍ ﺍ ﺍﻳ and make me well, sufficient, wholesome, sublime, and on the rise, with Your Goodness

، ﺍ ﻱ ﻱ ﺍﺍ a Goodness that will give birth to a Goodness within me,

، ﺍ ﺍﻟ ﺍ ﻭﺍﻵ a wellbeing not only in this world but also in the next world!

، ﺍ ﺍﻟ ﺍﻷ ﺍﻟ ﻻ ﻱ ﻱ ـﻱ and sustain me in health, security, and safety in my religion and my body,

، ﺍﻳ ﻱ ﻱ ﺍﻟ ﺍ ﻱ ﺃﻭ ﺍ and the insight in my heart, wisdom in my affairs, and the alarm toward Thee,

ﺍ ﺍ ﻯﺍﻱ ﺍ and the apprehension of Thee, and strength to carry out obedience to Your commands for me,

. ﺍﻻﺍ ـﺎ ﻱ ـ and to avoid the disobedience to what You prohibit for me!

، ﺃﻠ ﺍ ﺍ ﺍ O God, oblige me through the Hajj, the Omrah,

، ﺍ ﻭ ﺍ ﺍ ﻯ آ and visiting the grave of Your Messenger (Your blessings, mercy, and benedictions upon him and upon his Household)

، آ ﻭ ﺍﻟ ﻻ ﺩ ﺍ ﻱ ، ﻱ ﺍﻱ ﺍ ﻱ ﺍﻡ and the graves of the Household of Your Messenger (upon them be peace) for as long as You let me live, in this year and in every year,

، ﻭﺭ ، ﺍ ﻭﻻ ﻭﺭ ﻭﺭ and make that accepted, thanked, and mentioned before Thee and stored away with Thee!

، ﺍﻟ ﻧﺎ ﺍﻱ Make my tongue utter the praise, the thanksgiving, The remembrance, and the outstanding Praise to Thee

، ﺍ ﺍ ﻳ ﻱ and expand my heart toward the right goals of Your religion!

ﻱ ﻱ ﺍﻟ ﺍ ﺍﻟ ﻳﻢ Grant me and my progeny the refuge from the accursed Satan,

ﺍﻟ ﺍ ﺍﺍ ﺍﺍ ﺍﻟﻼ And the harm of venomous vermin, threatening pests, swarming crowds, and the evil eyes,

، ﺍﻥ ﻳﺪ the mischief of "every accursed Satan" and the harm of every refractory ruler

، ﻳﻒ ﻳﺪ ، ﻑ ﻳﺪ And from the harm of every affluent living in ease, And the harm of everyone strong or weak,

، ﻳﺮ ﻳﺮ ، ﻳﻒ ﻳﻊ And the harm of everyone born high or low, the harm of everyone Great or small,

، ﻭ ﻷ ـ ﺍ ﺍﻹ ، ﺏ ﻳﺪ the wickedness of everyone near or far, the damage of every one, jinn or man, who declares war on Your Messenger and his Household,

ﺍ ﺓ آ ﺍﺍ . ﺇ ﻯ ﺍﻁ ﻳﻢ and the damage of "every crawling creature that You have taken by the forelock! Surely You are on a straight path"

ﺃﻠ ﻯ ﺩ ﻭآ ، ﺍﻱ ﻭﺀ ﺍ ﻱ O God, bless Muhammad and his Household and if someone desires ill for me take him away from me, and drive his mischief away from me,

، ﻱ ، ﺍﺃ ﻱ ، ﺍ ﻯ ﻱ and avert his wickedness away from me, And send his malice back to him, and place before him a barricade, so You may blind his eyes toward me,

، ﺃ ، ﻱ ﺍ ، ﻭ ﺇﺍﻱ ، ﺭﻱ And deafen his ears toward my mention, And lock off his heart toward me, and silence his tongue against me, And restrain his thinking,

، ﻭ ، ، ، and abase his adulation, and break his arrogance, and abase his neck, and disjoint his pride,

ﻱ and make me immune to his injury, his harm, his slander, his backbiting, his fault-finding, and his envy,

ﺍﺍﺍ . ﺇ ﻳﺰ ﻳ and make me immune from his enmity, his snares, his traps, his agents, and his followers! Surely You are the Mighty, the Powerful!

Western Scholars n Philip Woolley, a professor and researcher from Germany, asked for a copy of Al-Saheefa al. Sajjadiya to be sent to him after his friend, a Roman Catholic Cardinal, saw the book in his library, studied part of it, and impressed with its novelty insisted on taking it away with him. n When the Vatican Library in Rome received an English version of Al-Saheefa al-Sajjadiya, it said in its letter of acknowledgment: "This book contains great mystical themes, so we place it for researchers in the best position of the library. "

Western Scholars n A leader of Germany's Social Democratic Party wrote to a friend, Professor Singler, saying: "This book had a profound impact on me and changed my view about Islam. I invite my friend to study this book", n In Poland, Christian Scientist Andre Kowski said of the book: ¨ "I am deeply impressed by the ideas of Imam Sajjad, whose noble thoughts are manifested on the pages of the book Al-Saheefa al-Sajjadiya. It is so attractive, to the extent that I feel this book has given me a complete sense of the mystical and divine. "
