1850 -1880 What significant things happened to move photography forward during this time frame? • The wet plate negative process was invented at this time and could use a viscous solution of collodion to coat glass with light sensitive silver salts to create a more stable and detailed negative than what a calotype could produce. • The panoramic camera with the first wide angle/lens was patented/invented by Thomas Sutton in 1857 • In 1879 the dry plate was invented and was a glass negative plat with a dried gelatin emulsion and could be stored for a period of time, allowing photographers to no longer need portable dark rooms. This allowed the held-held camera to be made. 1921 -1950 What significant things happened to move photography forward during this time frame? • The commercially viable colour films were available in the early 1940 s. By using dye-coupled colours were a chemical process connects three different layer of colours to create a coloured photograph. • Advancements on the cameras such the Palaroid camera was improved in 1948 and allowed users to take and print a picture in one minute. These type of cameras seemed convenient at the time for travel photography. 1951 -1989 What significant things happened to move photography forward during this time frame? • Up to 1970 s the Triacetate film came and was much more stable then what the earlier 35 mm film cameras could do.
