Your Research Paper: Using Your Sources
Your Task: • You are writing a comparative analysis of TWO works we have read: the work assigned for the Research Presentation last nine weeks AND one of these: Jane Eyre, A Doll House, Trifles. • Your paper must be: • 6 -8 pages long • Correctly MLA-formatted • MOSTLY your words
You MUST: • Analyze both works through your assigned critical lens; • Provide a MINIMUM of four direct quotes from each work; • Provide a MINIMUM of six quotes from TWO DIFFERENT critical sources; • Ultimately write a thematic analysis.
Work Days: • We will be in the MEDIA CENTER on March 7, March 8, and March 9. Various pieces of your research will be due on those days: • March 8: Preliminary Works Cited Page • March 9: First TWO pages of your paper.
The Thesis Statement: • Use the GROUP theme as a starting point. • Consider Jane Eyre, A Doll House, and Trifles. How does ONE of these works connect to your theme? • BY MARCH 9, you MUST have your THESIS STATEMENT finalized.
You are ADDING: • A minimum of four direct quotes from EACH literary work you are researching. (Use those reading logs!) • Criticism from Jane Eyre, A Doll House, OR Trifles. • (REMEMBER: You already have criticism from the first work. )
