Hat dir dein Arbeitspraktikum gefallen? (Did you enjoy your work experience? )
Vokabeln • man hat mich als Erwachsene behandelt • das Berufsleben • die Arbeitsstunden • selbständig arbeiten • tolle Erfahrung • reine Zeitverschwendung • Sklavenarbeit • das Arbeitsklima • I was treated as an adult • professional life • working hours • work independently • great experience • pure waste of time • Slavery • The atmosphere at work
Combining an opinion with giving a reason: • Mein Arbeitspraktikum hat mir gefallen. (I liked my work experience) (opinion) Es war besser als Schule! (reason) • Mein Arbeitspraktikum war nicht so gut. (My work experience was not so good) (opinion) Es war Sklavenarbeit! (reason)
Let’s have a look at how to make 1 sentence out of 2! Mein Arbeitspraktikum hat mir gefallen Es weil (because) es war besser als Schule war
What happened there? The conjunction ‘weil’ smells so ‘VILE’ that the verb (war) runs a mile!!!! In other words: when you use ‘weil’, the VERB has to go to the END of the SENTENCE!
Using a positive comment with a negative reason or the other way round • Mein Arbeitspraktikum hat mir gefallen. (I liked my work experience) (opinion) Die Arbeitsstunden waren zu lang! (the working hours were too long) (reason) • Mein Arbeitspraktikum war nicht so gut. (My work experience was not so good) (opinion) Ich habe viel gelernt! (I learned a lot) (reason)
Let’s have a look at how to make 1 sentence out of 2! Mein Arbeitspraktikum war nicht so gut Ich obwohl (although) ich habe viel gelernt habe
What happened there? The conjunction ‘obwohl’ behaves just like the conjunction ‘weil’ - the conjugated verb (habe) runs to the END of the SENTENCE!!!!!!!
Decide whether to use ‘weil’ or ‘obwohl’ • Mein Arbeitspraktikum war prima, weil/obwohl ich selbständig arbeiten konnte. • Mein Arbeitspraktikum war nicht so gut, weil/obwohl ich im Team arbeiten konnte. • Mein Arbeitspraktikum hat mir gefallen, weil/obwohl man mich als Erwachsene behandelt hat. • Ich fand mein Arbeitspraktikum klasse, weil/obwohl es eine tolle Erfahrung war. • Meiner Meinung nach war mein Arbeitspraktikum nicht so gut, weil/obwohl es besser als Schule war.
