You have heard this question, “Where do you plan to be in 5, 10, 15 or 20 years? ” It is often followed with, “And how do you plan to get there? ”

Will we step out of our comfort zone? Change is tough but God is always sufficient.

God seems to have a knack for changing people’s plans. Noah…. ark? Abraham…. offer Isaac on Mt. Moriah? Moses…. deliver the Israelites from Egypt? Samuel…. David, a king? You…. ? ? Me…. ? ?

God is probably going to change your plans. • It will probably NOT be easy. • You will probably have to step OUT of your comfort zone. • You may experience great pain.

God’s plan is best. (ex: Joseph)

What if we resist? • It does not go well if we don’t embrace God’s plan. Isaac…Esau…. Jacob • After initial resistance, Peter embraced God’s plan. Cornelius, a Roman centurion

What if our response is resentment? • God chose David to follow Saul. Jonathan…. . accepts and embraces Saul…. resents becoming bitter and angry • John the Baptist, an outdoorsman, finds himself in prison. “Blessed is he who is not offended in me. ” (Matthew 11: 6)

We are to be ready and equipped to do God’s will or God’s plan whatever that may be.

Has God asked you to change your plans? • Sometimes this is obvious, i. e. death in the family, health crisis, career move, etc. • This is also true for those in ministry. • Plans may change in the way we do ministry in a culture of “religiously unaffiliated. ”

Daniel and his 3 friends… …. had a change of plans due to a cultural shift in their environment.

Rather than pout, quit, withdraw, or resist God’s plan, they prepared themselves to live, worship, and serve in a much different land with some very different people.
