Starters Overview

Spelling • Spelling game – should mimmick R&W part 3 • Jumbled spelling game – should revise lexis previously met – made by sts to cut down T preparation time • Hangman, pictionary • Do spelling tests regularly – sts need to know how to spell • Refer to wordlists (book or website)

Prepositions • TPR – use furniture or objects – good way to check comprehension • Dictation – picture of 3 D house with objects – revises lexis, and prepares for L & S papers • Use scene from film; worksheets; freezeframe

Lexical sets • • Crosswords Recycling – vocab boxes - pictionary Hangman warmers – revise previous lesson wordlists

Listening skills • Songs • Dictations including colouring, drawing, and kinesthetic dictations (pointing) • Make exs kinesthetic – cut up and put on wall answers • Pre-teach vocab • Use pause button • T reads • Little and often

Reading & writing skills • Matching – R&W part 2&3 • Testing lexis – hangman, wordsearchs R&W part 1

Speaking skills • Easiest part of exam • Focus on lexis, nouns and verbs (production)
