YETS framework • YETS will start one week earlier (Dec 4 th instead of Dec 11 th). The extra week has been requested by CMS in order to extract the pixel tracker (DC-DC issue). • Following the issue in 16 L 2, it has been decided to warm up S 12 to ambient temperature. • Access to UX 25 from Mon Dec 4 th to Sun Mar 25 th (16 weeks). Decision to not open L 3 doors, no removal of shieldings this year. • Start beam commissioning expected 2 nd April (17 weeks beam to beam). YETS planning - 1 Dec 2017 2

Access • Access starts Monday 4 th at 9: 00 • UX cavern in General mode • Magnets OFF and interlocked (already since Mon 27. 11) • No access in these dates: • AUG test – 20 th Dec – no access on entire site • Safety test: 4 th January after 17: 00 – no access underground • Beam Interlock Warning Test (from 6: 00 PM): 20 th and 21 st February (patrol not needed) – no access underground after 18: 00 • DSO test: 2 nd and 3 rd March (patrol needed) – no access underground YETS planning - 1 Dec 2017 3

Services availability during YETS • Electricity: • AUG test on 20 th Dec NO ACCESS TO P 2 (surface, underground). People who want to access surface must contact now TC • AUG in Meyrin on 6 th Jan (this will of course not affect P 2, but might affect users as it will cut offices, labs etc) • Test secours (10’): 9 th Jan (6: 00 AM – 6: 10 AM) details in next slide • Test “auto transfert”: 27 th and 28 th Jan (transparent) • Cooling and ventilation: • Maintenance scheduled in Feb (w 6 -7 -8) details in next slides • Gas: • details in next slides • Flammable gases: isobutane and methane stopped already on Monday 27 th Nov. Arcal-15 will be kept circulating until Thursday 21 st Jan, then it will be stopped for the whole CERN closure period (restart the 8 th). During that time Arcal-10 will be used instead (non-flammable). • Maintenance flammable gas detection system (done after CV maintenance of SG 2 in w 5) — will stop all flammable gases YETS planning - 1 Dec 2017 6

EN-EL: test secours Planned for Tuesday, 9 th Jan, at 6: 00 AM (10’) For P 2 this will affect: • all buildings including SX 2 and SXL 2 • all offices, meeting rooms, wall outlets, light, coffee machine • the non UPS part of the ARC • the non UPS part of the detector cooling plants (this will trigger interlocks, e. g. LV) • the gas systems (PLCs stopped, interlocks triggered) Stop gas systems beforehand? • the circulation of iced and mixed water, ventilation (will restart after the 10 min. interruption) Are NOT affected at P 2: • all equipment on UPS (notably all CRs and inside ARC) • all racks in CR and UX As we do not know if all ventilation will restart OK, we will suspend cavern access until we confirm that all is nominal Note that this test is CERN-wide, so it will also affect your offices, labs etc. YETS planning - 1 Dec 2017

Detector activities 1/3 • ITS: • Replacement of 5 pressure regulator in the SDD cooling plant • TPC: • Clean TPC FC walls with use of endoscope and cleaning tools, new gas humidifier in CR 5 • TPC x-ray irradiation (inspection 5 Dec with Klaus) • FEE checks, LVPS checks • T 0: • Investigation problem with QTC and Delay modules (access to rack C 33 -c 34) • Investigation problem with mainframe SY 1527 (CR 4), broke due to one module A 1532 was shorted. Detector activities • • 2/3 TOF: • TDC Readout Module (TRM) 03, 04 crate 63 (SM 15, C-side) to replace. • Upgraded firmware (for continuous readout) to install in 10 TRMs (on A-side). If this (testing) installation fails more TRMs might be replaced • Local Trigger Module on crate 07 (SM 01, C-side) to replace • DCDC converter (A 1396) crate 43 (SM 10, C-side) to replace next week • Displacement of one Super Module (SM 01) requested by the Tech. Coordination: verification access for TPC-TRD-TOF LV cables replacement in back-frame TRD: • No hardware intervention planned at the detector, but we will upgrade the Wiener LV PS firmware, together with Mateusz from the DCS team. This is planned for January 18+19. It will require access to the galleries YETS planning - 1 Dec 2017 12

Detector activities 3/3 MTR: • Replacement gas gaps of two MTR RPCs in February (date tbc). Need nacelle (Iside) + open UP 25 (passage via LHC tunnel + PM crane) • Electronics checks: 12 to 14 December. Need nacelle (I-side) MCH: 1. Slats (nacelle needed) • Exchange few slats (which undergo HV trips); these slats will be repaired in Saclay antenna at CERN. • The work will be done in January (15. 1 to 31. 1) 2. Quadrants station 2 • 2 quadrants of Station 2 will be removed and repaired • The work will be done from mid-January to mid-February 3. Magnets TE-EPC activities: • Provide a support to EN/EA to access the polarity switch (mechanical model of the bus bards connections), • Verification of the monitoring system • Verification of gate resistance values • Verification of Bus bars • Verification of transformers oil leakages • All sensitive verifications will be made early in the YETS such to be able to restart the magnets well before mid March YETS planning - 1 Dec 2017 16

Access to CERN during CERN closure • This year, CERN will be closed from Saturday, 23 December 2017 to Sunday, 7 January 2018 inclusive.
