YEAR 9 WORK Week beginning 18 th May In this document you will find all the tasks your subject teachers have asked you to complete this week. On the next slide is a timetable template – you may wish to organise your week and plan out when you will do each subject. REMEMBER you can be flexible with this and put in breaks when you need them. On the slides after this you will see a list of the tasks you need to complete. There also lots of extra resources/booklets/tasks on the school website which will help you with your work. If it has not been set on Teams, students can use their student email to email teachers their completed work so teachers can monitor their progress and give feedback. Year 9 Term 5: English Learn the following spellings by making sure you know what they mean, writing them out repeatedly, testing yourself or getting someone else to test you, and putting them in to your own sentences: imitation, immediately, incidentally, independent, intelligent, interesting, interfere, interpretation, interruption, invitation, irrelevant, irritable, island, jealous, judgment, knowledge, laboratory, length, lesson, library Create a mind map of everything you remember about Stave Five of ‘A Christmas Carol’ – try to mention: Fred, charity gentlemen, Bob Cratchit, pathetic fallacy, similes, redemption. If you struggle with this, use your booklet that you took home, the website ‘Shmoop’ or Mr Bruff’s You. Tube page. If you want a challenge, try to include at least five key quotations in your mind map. Create a mind map of everything you remember about Act 4 of ‘Romeo and Juliet’ – try to mention: Juliet, Capulet, Nurse, potion, soliloquy, death, Paris. If you struggle with this, use your booklet that you took home, the website ‘Shmoop’ or Mr Bruff’s You. Tube page. If you want a challenge, try to include at least five key quotations in your mind map. If you are feeling a little more creative, you could do a comic book version or something more visually interesting! Year 9 Term 5: Art Week 5 Copy the image into the blank box or on plain paper. Make sure you add tone and texture. You can find the image on Microsoft Teams. You have 1 week to complete this. Once finished take a picture and submit on Microsoft Teams. List all the reasons why a new computer system could fail. § Example – clients expectations does not meet their budget With each reason can you write how could companies avoid this happening. § Example – making sure the client is fully aware of what their budget could allow for from the start of the analysis. Communication is key to any project. Task 2: System lifecycle model – When a new system is being developed, a lot of developers will use the system lifecycle model to ensure everything is completed. The stages of the model is below: Analysis Design Implementation Testing Evaluation Maintenance Your task is to explain what happens at each stage, example below: Analysis: Input - Client meeting – objectives, Timescale, budget, requirements are discussed. Staff training needed. Looking at the legacy system – the current system in place (If there is one) Output/Outcome – the feasibility study/report – This is produced to show that what the client wants is able to happen based on their requirements/space/budget etc… Task 3: Consequences of a cyber-attack: Explain about each one and the impact that it can have upon the following points below: Loss: Financial Data Reputation Disruption: Operational Financial Commercial Safety: Individuals Equipment Finance Additional Task: Ethics & Morals Question: - What are the potential advantages & disadvantage’s to driverless cars? Things to consider: • What is the point of these cars? • The reliability of these cars? • Who or what will benefit or lose from this technology? • How can these cars be policed? What if it goes over the speed limit? • Who is to blame if it causes a crash? • What other transport currently use auto driving? Has it been a success? Are issues caused by this technology? • Could driverless cars cause a lose of jobs? Why? Who? From your research do you think driverless cars are a positive or negative moving forward?
