Persuade • To get someone to do something or think something by giving good reasons for doing it • Example • He did finally come with us, although it too k a long time to persuade him. • What persuaded you to accept the job?
Convince • To make someone believe something is true or to get them to do something • Examples • He failed to convince the jury of his innocence • They tried to convince him to buy a cheaper car.
Argue • To give reasons why you believe something is true • Examples • She argued that it was not a good idea to go out in the storm • Ross opposed buying the new car, arguing that it wasn’t worth the money
