First Day in School We are looking forward to you arriving on Wednesday, 3

First Day in School We are looking forward to you arriving on Wednesday, 3 rd September. Please arrive at the main entrance from 8. 40 am. You will spend some time with your form tutor – get to know the school and even start some lessons!

Lunch time The dining room has been set up for serving a choice hot

Lunch time The dining room has been set up for serving a choice hot and cold take-away food. There are three serverys and pupils will line up in a supervised queue. Once pupils have collected their food they can take it into the Gym – which has dining room furniture, or on to the back yard. Pupils can continue to bring packed lunches if they chose to do so, and eat these in the gym.

‘Pods’ and ‘Zones’ • You have been Grouped into the Year 7 Pod •

‘Pods’ and ‘Zones’ • You have been Grouped into the Year 7 Pod • This means you will only be mixing with Year 7 s in school. • Year 7 has its own ‘Zone’ of rooms. • Your will have all of your lessons in your form group. • Your teachers will come to your room to teach you. • For lessons like Art, DT, Science and Computer Science you will be taught in specialist rooms wherever possible. • PE will be taught in outside spaces.

Rooms • Rooms have been prepared to make sure they are comfortable and safe places to learn. • There will seating plans in place which you must stick to. • You will have your own work space and a place to store your equipment and books. • Specialist rooms will have been cleaned before you use them.

Lessons • You will have some double lessons on your timetable – this will

Lessons • You will have some double lessons on your timetable – this will give you more time to learn in specialist rooms and reduce the amount of moving you have to do. • Your teachers have received training in how to teach you effectively from the front of the room. • It will take a bit of getting used to for us all – but we are sure we will soon get used to it and be making excellent progress.

Keeping Everyone Safe • You will be able to use the toilets by the old gym. These will be fully supervised during the day and regularly cleaned. • You should wash your hands especially an arrival. before and after break – hand sanitizer can be used in addition to this. • Please cough or sneeze into a tissue and put it in the bin or if you don’t have a tissue, cough or sneeze into the crook of your elbow. • Classrooms will all be equipped with a hygiene station – wipes, hand sanitizer, tissues and a bin.

Behaviour The new home school agreement asks you as a pupil to: • Follow our school rules ‘The Hillside Way’ • Always follow the rules and follow all instructions from adults to maintain the safety of myself and others • Wash my hands and use hand sanitiser as soon as I go into school and when appropriate during the day, I will do this for 20 seconds each time. • Tell an adult if I feel unwell. • Bring my Essential 8 to school every day. • Arrive at school at the correct time for my year group and report to my base promptly and stay there. • Only enter and exit the school building from the designated area. • Follow the catch it-bin it-kill it rules coughing and sneezing into elbow or tissue. • Follow the behaviour policy and I understand that there will be consequences if I chose not to do so.
