Year 7 PSHE half term challenges Positive wellbeing is a state of overall good health in both body and mind, during these unprecedented times, it is important we look after ourselves and each other holistically, which includes the following: ü Intellectually (cognitive stimulation such as problem solving puzzles), ü Spiritually (understanding sense of purpose and beyond your own existence, can be through prayer or exploration of a higher power, etc) ü Socially (building relationships and community support through friends and family and neighbours etc. ) ü Physically (Movement, whether in sports or walking, movement that brings joy. ) Relationships and community We have seen some amazing pieces of community cohesion, charity support and community collaboration, none more so than Colonel Tom Moore, who has been truly inspirational. Sometimes friendships can be tested – complete the friendship scenario worksheet below: What makes a good friend? Using a range of vocabulary and images create a paper friendship bracelet that details a ‘good friend’. Health With the support of your family and the contents of the fridge: What healthy snack or meal can you create for yourself and your family? A grateful nation, watching the way doctors and nurses have put their lives on the line, feels inspired to give something back. The 99 -year-old Captain Tom Moore marching around his garden has captured our imagination, and people across the UK have put their hands in their pockets and donated more than £ 28 m to his campaign. U Dame Elizabeth Cadbury school has always supported local charities by organising their own charity days. Imagine you are the organiser of the next DEC charity day. Plan the day with a range of activities and prices that are inclusive to all. Use the below worksheet to record your ideas: Friendships Many of you will be missing your friends during this difficult time. Write a letter to a friend detailing how you have spent your time in lockdown, what you miss about them and your future plans with them. Use the letter writing plan below to help you: Write an acrostic poem about your friend – you could use the template below or use your friend’s name – Try to include figurative language to engage the reader. Physical Staying healthy physically can help you stay healthy emotionally too. If you're eating the right food and keeping fit, your body will be strong and help you to cope with stress and also fight illness. Eating well and exercising often when you're a teenager will also help you stay in good health later in life. Getting regular sleep is another really important way to stay healthy. Having late nights can leave you feeling tired the next day. It can be difficult, but try to have at least 8 hours sleep each night. During these times maintaining good mental health is extremely important however some have suffered from a decline in their mental health due to the current circumstances.
