YEAR 7 ACTIVITIES MENU Key Question ‘JOINING IN’ The following activities make up the final week of your Remote Learning programme, but there also some useful ideas here for over the summer holidays! Click the links in each box to access the resources for each activity. SUBJECT SPECIFIC ENGLISH The AHS ‘Bookopoly’ Reading Challenge – to encourage you to read in the final week and over the Summer, the English Department have set this brilliant challenge in the style of the classic board game, Monopoly! MATHS Formula Memory Task – Have a go at a quick memory task to help you remember area and volume formulae. CLICK HERE for the revision poster, and HERE for the task. Maths knowledge Organiser – Refresh your memory of some key Maths topics you have completed this year, with some questions to test your skills! CLICK HERE to find the resources. SCIENCE RE Share your ideas with others, or encourage people to join in with you! What does this suggest about why people around the world belong to different religious groups? You could write a report for your RE teacher… HISTORY GEOGRAPHY Why not share your hard work with your teacher or other people in your year group? Why not work with a friend to test your knowledge on Maps and Map Symbols? Practical Science Ideas – Engage with Science in a practical way with some ideas to keep you busy through the summer! MFL Cooking Challenge – Have a go at making French, German and Spanish delicacies with these delicious continental recopies – they can be found by clicking HERE. Can you get any family or friends to join and help make these delicious treats? TECHNOLOGY Redesign an object – Have a go at redesigning an object to help someone else. Joining in with this can help you with Maths and Art, and your work may end up on display in the new Maths block! ‘Before the Flood’ – Watch the full, feature length documentary film starring Leonardo Di Caprio on the impact of climate change, and what we can do to stop it. CLICK HERE to challenge yourself on ‘Duolingo’ - there are 30 languages to choose from and your plan is personalised to your ability across speaking, listening, reading and writing. My Journeys Log – Every time you go out for a walk or a jog, try recording it and see how far you can travel over the summer! CLICK HERE to find the Spreadsheet to record your journeys. Why not get your friends to join in and hold a conversation in another language? ! Maybe try and encourage others to join you and see how far you can travel collectively throughout the Summer! Tie Dye Clothes – CLICK HERE to watch a video with some tips on how to create amazing Tie Dye clothes (with old clothes, and your parent’s permission/supervision!) Making Music for Beginners – CLICK HERE to learn the basics of music making – no prior experience is required! You’ll do everything on your browser. Design a Hotel Summer Maths Project – Work through the mathematical problems to design your own hotel for the summer. CLICK HERE to find all the resources you’ll need to complete the task. Rock Painting – This is a very therapeutic and creative way to pass the time, and the end products will look fantastic! CLICK HERE to watch a video on how to get started! Flower pounding – Follow the instructions on this video, and have a go at making simple yet artistic flower patterns. Why not share your creations with your friends, or even work with a friend on your creations!? Why not share your designs with friends, or work together to create designs? Work with a friend and see what different kinds of music you can create! Have a go at this with friends – can you turn your creations into a beautiful, floral collage? Learning BSL – A great way to spend some time over the Summer would be to Learn some key phrases in British Sign Language. CLICK HERE for all the resources and to find out more! Could this be a handy skill to allow more people to ‘Join in’ who might be hearing impaired? Perhaps you could work together with others to design your hotel and make a model of it too! Newspaper Forts – Can you use old newspapers and some basic engineering principles to build your own fort? CLICK HERE for more information on how to get started.
