Year 6 Home Learning Grid Learning opportunities – choose one of the tasks below each week and complete them in your homework book. They will then be crossed off your grid when your homework is marked. English Grammar Glossary: Think of 7 grammar terms that you are not secure with (e. g. article, or adverbial). Write a description of each one, and a sentence that uses each term correctly. Use a coloured key to identify where they are in your sentences! ¾ page minimum Non-chronological report: Research and write a report about the Children’s Craniofacial Association (CCA) 1 page & 1 image minimum Discussion: Is avoiding another child a form of bullying? Include arguments for and against, referring to Auggie’s story in Wonder. ¾ page minimum Science How our bodies work: Create a model which shows the function of the heart or the lungs. Label the model and write a section to explain the process. ½ page minimum Information: Create a power point or poster which describe the positive effects of exercise on our bodies. Create the perfect meal: Design a menu with the most health benefits. Explain the health properties of the ingredients you have chosen. 1 page and 1 image minimum Topic and PSHCE Create 2 timelines: Create 2 parallel timelines, one for the 3 periods of the ancient Maya, one for Britain at the same time. In total, 10 events minimum to be plotted accurately on the timeline. Maya calendar: Create a model or detailed illustration of a Mayan calendar. Write an explanation to accompany this. ½ page minimum Choose Kind: Create a poster, leaflet or Power. Point presentation, explaining the ‘Choose Kind’ campaign to the children of Great Horwood School Creative Arts Design: Create a model in your choice of material of any Maya artefact (temple, mask, tomb, etc), with a written description ½ page minimum Paint: Create an impression of Mayan art or murals. Include a picture of the original! Sketch: Create a self portrait. Label it ‘I am (your name)’. Underneath, write a paragraph listing your own true qualities.
