A little message from Year 5 Its that time of year where we should be spending our last week in year 5 together and having lots of fun. Although we haven't got to spend as much time with you this year as we would of liked, we wanted to tell you how proud we are of you all and how amazingly well you have coped through this whole pandemic! For those of you who are still at home we hope you are continuing to keep safe and we cant wait to see your face back in school in September! Geography (Animals of the Rainforest) We will be focusing on animals who might live in the rainforest. 1. Look at the different layers of the rainforest 2. Complete the grid to show the different layers of the rainforest and animals that live within each layer. 3. Use the rainforest picture to draw any animals that might live in the different layers 4. Complete a fact file for one animal
Different animals live in different layers of the rainforest Many birds live in the emergent layer. They look for nesting places and are away from predators. The understorey layer gets little light and is home to many animals like frogs, bats, apes and owls. The forest floor is home to many insects, spiders and large animals like jaguars and ocelots.
Art Leaf rubbing Go outside and find some leaves (different types have the best effect). Place the leaves under as piece of paper and use a crayon, chalk or coloured pencil to lightly rub over the leaf.
