Day 1 - Maths 1. Log onto https: //vimeo. com/430337560 or scan (Or get your day 1 maths papers ready in order) 2. Find the week you are working on – 3. Then find the lesson you are on 4. You will need a pencil and paper to help work out the answers 5. Watch the video and practice as you go along (read through the slides practice as you go along) 6. At the end of the video or slides, answer the questions that are in your pack
Day 1 – Maths THIS IS NOTHIN NEW. Nice and easy- you can add up the money like you’ve bought fruit from the fruit stall or something from the shop! Remember our decimals and place value? 1 penny (1 p) is £ 0. 01 The 1 is in the hundredths column! Tens Ones. tenths 0 . 0 hundredths 1 All money can be written as either pence (p) or pounds (£) but NEVER both. Just be careful writing out the amount you mean, like in this example: Now: £ 5. 8 has 8 in the tenths column- this would be £ 5. 80 / 5 pounds and 80 pence. This is wrong! 8 p looks like £ 0. 08 as a decimal- the 8 is in the hundredths place. So it should say £ 5. 08.

At the end of the video or slides, answer the questions that are in your pack
Day 2 – Maths We can partition money into pounds £ and pence p £ 1 is equal to 100 p and 100 p is equal to £ 1 If we are turning p into £ we divide by 100. If we are turning £ into p we multiply by 100
Day 2 – Maths How did you do? It isn’t that hard is it! To compare anything in maths, BOTH VALUES HAVE TO BE IN THE SAME UNIT. We have used these inequality signs before < Remember- To compare anything in maths, BOTH VALUES HAVE TO BE IN THE SAME UNIT. It’s up to you if you make both amounts into p or £, as long as they are the same unit BEFORE you compare and order them. =>
Day 2 – Maths Remember- To compare anything in maths, BOTH VALUES HAVE TO BE IN THE SAME UNIT.

Day 3 – Maths We could write money on a number line like this: It is worth writing each amount on a number line to help you round to the nearest pound. Remember- we have done this before! Remember; 1, 2, 3, 4, keep the number as before! 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, round it up on the number line!
Day 3 – Maths Remember; 1, 2, 3, 4, keep the number as before! 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, round it up on the number line! Rounding to the nearest £? Look next door! Look at the ten pence (tenths) column. Then use our rounding rhyme to work out if the £ will stay the same, or go up to the next whole pound! *£ 5. 50 rounded to the nearest £ *Look next door to the £- there is a 5 in the tenths column. *5, 6, 7, 8, 9, round up on the number line. *£ 5 is rounded up to £ 6.
Day 3 – Maths We could write money on a number line like this. Not all the intervals are labelled, but we can work it out! We know there is £ 1 or 100 p between £ 2 and £ 3. So £ 2. 30 would be 3 intervals in. Do the ones you know first! £ 2. 70 would be at the 7 th interval. Write it in. The others end in 5, so they are half way between two intervals.
Day 3 – Maths We could write money on a number line like this. Not all the intervals are labelled, but we can work it out! We can clearly see there is £ 1 and 10 intervals. Each interval is worth 10 p. £ 1 (100 p) divided by 10 intervals = 10 p This box is between 2 intervals, it is between £ 13. 50 and £ 13. 60. Look at where it is carefully- ESTIMATE sensibly. It is more than half way (£ 13. 55) but not near £ 13. 60. You would get a mark for £ 13. 56 or £ 13. 57. You wouldn’t be accurate saying £ 13. 55 because you can see has gone past that mark (half way). Our box is between 2 intervals, it is between £ 13. 10 and £ 13. 20. Look at where it is carefully- ESTIMATE sensibly. It is more than £ 13. 10 but not half way (£ 13. 15). You would get a mark for £ 13. 11, £ 13. 12 or £ 13.
Day 3 – Maths Rounding to the nearest £? Look next door! Look at the ten pence (tenths) column. Then use our rounding rhyme to work out if the £ will stay the same, or go up to the next whole pound! *£ 5. 50 rounded to the nearest £ *Look next door to the £- there is a 5 in the tenths column. *5, 6, 7, 8, 9, round up on the number line. *£ 5 is rounded up to £ 6.

At the end of the video or slides, answer the questions that are in your pack
Day 4 – Maths Read the questions carefully- is it asking you to add or subtract, or multiply or divide? Use bar models to help you and use column addition and subtraction as needed!
Day 4 – Maths Remember we can use number lines to help solve problems to! Add up the jumps at the end. OR you could subtract using column subtraction. Remember. To compare anything in maths, BOTH VALUES HAVE TO BE IN THE SAME UNIT. It’s up to you if you make both amounts into p or £, as long as they are the same. When they are the same unit, add or subtract as needed! In this example, we have to add the pears, bread rolls and carrots, THEN subtract that from the £ 5 to get our change. We’d get 149 p or £ 1. 49 change.
