A Message From the Y 3 Team. At present school life is very different and many of you haven’t been to school since March. We hope our presentation will give you lots of important information and help your transition into your new year group. However, as we move forward, routines and changes in the organisation of our school day may still be affected thus some of the information shared with you may not be accurate in September. If this is the case we will endeavour to keep you informed and updated. Thank you for your understanding. The Year 3 team.

Transition As we are unable to do our usual transition activities this year, we have done our best to ensure that you get all the information you need for September. Currently our plans for transition include: • A video of the teachers - this will be posted on the website. This will introduce the staff and show the children where their classrooms will be. • In July teachers will meet their new children in small groups in school – if this is possible. • The Power. Point on the website • The Year Group page on the website • Dedicated email address year 3@stgeorges. wirral. sch. uk

Mental Health and Well-Being Mental health and well being is very much a priority at St George’s. As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, children have missed school and seeing their friends. In September we will be spending time promoting good mental health. This will be built into our curriculum. We will use the ROAR approach to mental health which feeds into our PSHE curriculum. See the Powerpoint on the Y 4 page for more information. You can find out more on our school website: https: //www. stgeorges. wirral. sch. uk/page/the-roar-response-to-mental-health-inprimary-schools/68633

Changing negative feelings into more positive responses. ● Life Book ● Power Quizzes (3 x per year) ● Worry Box - they can communicate with their teacher to tell them about their worries.

Daily Home Reading – should be recorded in reading logs (expected 4 times a week, but there is no limit). Weekly Maths Homework is to be completed using the maths homework booklets. These include practical activities that will be allocated by teachers then signed off by a parent/carer at home.

Initials & Date 1 2 3 When it comes to times tables, speed and accuracy are important – the more facts your child remembers, the easier it is for them to do harder calculations. Using your child’s login details provided by the class teacher, support your child to practise their times tables online or using the app. In Year 3, your child can play on the single player game ‘Garage’, and the multiplayer game ‘Arena’, in which they can play against rock stars from their class. 4 5 6 7 8 9 10
