Peter Thorpe creates abstract art. Abstract art is… A painting or sculpture that does not represent a person, place or thing in the natural world.

Lucien Rudaux (1974 -1947) French Artist and Astronomer. Rudaux never went into space and pictures from space were still unclear during his life time, so he used his knowledge of space and imagination to create his pictures.

Your task today is to create your own ‘Earth from Space’ space art. • You need to include the view of Earth from space in your picture. What else you include in your picture is up to you. • You can use any medium you like e. g. colouring pencils, chalk, paint, crayon, pastels, collage. • You can choose the style of your piece e. g. impressionist (Monet was an impressionist), abstract (like Peter Thorpe’s art), realism/naturalism (looks like the real thing). • The next slide has some examples of space art that might provide some inspiration.
