All About…. The Fox
Choosing the right text to use this week • There are 3 different texts this week that are different levels of difficulty. • The stars at the bottom of the page show you the level. • They increase from 1 star to 2 star and then 3 star. • Each text increases in difficulty for reading, vocabulary and content. • If you are finding a text too easy or hard, then try the next star level up or down. • Remember to answer the questions from the star level text you choose. Session 5
Common exception words Watch the video to do the flashcard challenge and then play one of the games.
Go Fish Write the words that you want to use out twice. Deal each player 5 cards and then mix up the rest face down in the middle of the players. The aim of the game is to find matching pairs of words. The person to get rid of their cards first is the winner, or the person with the most number of work matching pairs. The players take it in turns to ask another player if they have a particular word. If the other player has the word, then they must give it and then that player can put their matching pair face up. If the player does not have that word, then they must say ‘Go fish’, and the asking player must pick up a card from the middle pile to add to their own hand. The game continues like this, taking turns, until all the cards are gone or someone has no cards in their hand.
Memory matching game Write the words you wish to use twice onto cards. Turn all the cards face down and shuffle them around. Each person takes it in turns to turn over 2 cards until they find a matching pair. Read the matching pair words. The winner is the person with the most matching pairs once they have all gone.
